Technical Director

Get ready to make a real impact in a certified B Corp as our new Technical Director! We are seeking a tech-savvy leader to oversee our composable tech stack and drive our technical vision, strategy, and execution in a unified commerce environment. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the growth and success of our ecommerce and retail operations.

The development is done by the multidisciplinary in-house team, of which some are fully remote. You will be heading the operations that fit your vision and strategy on improving the technical landscape to support our customers and colleagues online and in our 85 stores.
 

This role is available immediately at our Amsterdam HQ and will report directly to our CMO Masha Kodden.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Mentor: Manage and coach the Team Leads within the Digital and IT services domains.

  • Technical Vision: Set the vision for the digital landscape, ensuring it is primed for future innovation and optimal performance, leveraging MACH principles and best-of-breed solutions.

  • Strategic Alignment: Align company goals and vision with your peers, translating these into actionable plans within the Digital domain.

  • Leadership: Be an excellent leader for your team, serving as the technical voice and consciousness within the organisation.

  • Performance Insights: Generate insights and report on technical performance, identifying areas for improvement.

  • Security and Compliance: Advocate for security and privacy, ensuring GDPR compliance and educating colleagues on necessary protocols to protect our customers and colleagues.

Main Competencies:

  • Experience: 8+ years in a leading technical role, with a strong understanding of the retail environment and expertise in both online and offline landscapes.

  • Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience in software engineering, architecture, and development, with proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies.

  • Cloud and DevOps: Deep knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP) and modern sysops/devops practices.

  • Device Management and Networking: Experience with device management (Jamf) and networking (Cisco Meraki) and Google Workspace.

  • Leadership: An excellent people and strategic leader with a strong vision on innovation driven by technology.

  • Communication: Able to communicate complex technical decisions in a simple and clear manner to all stakeholders.

  • Data-Driven: Bring insight and oversight to a data-driven approach to architectural decision-making.

  • Business Understanding: Good understanding of business dynamics, balancing commercial objectives with customer experience, brand strategy, costs, and timelines.
